I have to admit rest is hard for me. I wake up every morning with a to-do list in my head. What about you? Perhaps, like me, you struggle with how to find rest. I always feel like I have to be doing something. Therefore, when I try to rest, it is not restful because I feel guilty for not doing what needs to be done.
God created us not to do, but to be who he created us to be.
God tells us “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Because rest doesn’t come easy for me, I found an acronym for R.E.S.T. that I would like to share with you.

Hebrews teaches us that if we believe in God we enter into His rest. Experiencing His rest is one way you can tell whether you are really in faith. When you truly enter into the realm of faith, you enter into the rest of God.
Rest is freedom from reasoning, struggle, fear, inner turmoil, worry, and frustration, which happens only when we try to do what only God can do. It is a rest of the soul where the mind, will, and emotions are at peace.
We can rest in God because you know He will take care of us and meet your needs. When we have that kind of faith we can enjoy life because God is working on our problems.
God wants us to live in peace and in His rest. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
If you are tired and weary, I urge you to enter into His rest. Stop trying to control everyone and everything around you. Allow God to do for you what only He can do.
No matter what you face, God wants to help you and give you rest. The only way we can be free from struggle is to believe in God’s word and obey whatever Jesus puts in your hearts to do.
Believing in God’s word delivers us from struggling so that we can rest in His promises.
Are you in need of God’s rest? Cling to Him, trust in Him and rely on Him and experience the rest He has prepared for you.
The word “rest” comes from a Greek word that means to cease working, worrying, striving, and fearing. This is the rest we are looking forward to. God says we can experience His rest right now, no matter what is going on in our lives. There is nothing you need to do except receive it as a gift.
