Last week I presented examples from the Bible of social barriers being broken in the Prophet Hosea and the actions of Jesus. This week, I want to ask us to consider the barriers that the Bible itself gives us when thinking about God, and how we might overcome those barriers. We could think of these as theological barriers, or barriers of our minds. What do we do when we encounter stories of God’s action that seem inconsistent? What do we do when our own experiences challenge how we think about God? I will walk us through a couple of Biblical passages that, I think, serve as an example of the barriers we might face and the solutions provided to us in God’s love. In short, I think the answer to these questions lies in encountering the love of God through both lament and celebration. Thanks and Peace, Jammin Henry
