We live in a culture driven by constant novelty, where values shift like sand and truth is redefined by the hour. Yet across millennia, the ancient Word of God remains an unshakeable rock.

Reflecting on those “holy words long preserved,” we are reminded of the sacred chain of preservation, handed down through centuries of sacrifice and stained with the blood of martyrs. Here lies the sacred paradox of faith: Scripture is historically fixed yet dynamically alive, written in antiquity yet piercingly relevant to every modern struggle. While human wisdom continuously rewrites itself to stay trendy, God’s Word transforms the world precisely because it never changes.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever (Isaiah 40:8). These preserved words are not a dusty relic of the past, but an active lamp for our present path. As DeShazo’s anthem beautifully proclaims, when we open our hearts to these ancient truths, they impart divine life, guide us safely home, and anchor our restless souls in Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
